Internal party conflict between Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss and his estranged son Anbumani reached a new high on Friday (December 26, 2025), with the latter ‘expelling’ former party president and Pennagaram MLA G.K. Mani from the party.

Mr. Mani is a lieutenant of the party founder and was appointed working president of the party. Previously, he held the post of president for 25 years since 1998.

In a statement, “the PMK headquarters” said the disciplinary action committee of the party (headed by Dr. Anbumani), on December 18, issued a notice to Mr. Mani, seeking an explanation within a week as to why he should not be removed from the party’s primary membership under clause 30 of its constitution for repeatedly acting against the interests of the party and its leadership.

As the deadline expired on December 25, without any explanation being received from Mr. Mani, the PMK disciplinary action committee met in Chennai and discussed the matter. Since Mr. Mani failed to offer any explanation for his alleged “anti-party activities,” the committee recommended to “party president” Dr. Anbumani that he be removed from the party’s primary membership, the statement said.

Accepting the recommendation, Dr. Anbumani announced that Mr. Mani had been removed from the primary membership of the PMK, the statement added.
