Actor-politician and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, citing an India Today interview in which the CM spoke about alliance dynamics but remained silent on sharing power with the Congress.
Taking a dig at the DMK leader at a rally in Salem, Vijay said, “Stalin said an alliance will not work in Tamil Nadu,” as he pointed to the apparent strain within the ruling coalition over the Congress not being allowed to join the government.
At the India Today Tamil Nadu Round Table earlier this week, Stalin asserted that his party would form the government on its own after the 2026 Assembly elections, while clarifying that it would contest in alliance with the Congress. His remarks came amid speculation of a rift between the allies, with some Congress leaders openly expressing displeasure over not being included in the government. However, Stalin stopped short of stating whether the DMK would share power with its ally.
At the Salem rally, Vijay launched a series of attacks against MK Stalin and his government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order, ensure women’s safety, and address acute job losses, among several other issues. He said the people of the state were aspiring for a change in government in Tamil Nadu.
“The Chief Minister is asking people to ‘share your dreams’ after five years in power. Do you know what the people of Tamil Nadu dream of? They want to dislodge the DMK,” he said.
Vijay further alleged that the DMK government was consistently denying permission for his rallies, claiming that the new SOP for public meetings introduced by the government was nothing but a “Stalin Sir Operating Procedure”.
“They ask how the inexperienced can do politics. I want to ask them in return, do they have any experience other than looting people’s money?” Vijay told the crowd.
