Imtiaz Ali and Ektaa Kapoor have announced their upcoming project, Heer Ranjha. Interestingly, they are reuniting after the cult success of Laila Majnu, starring Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri. The filming for the movie is scheduled to commence soon. It is set to be directed by Sajid Ali.

Speaking about the announcement, Ektaa Kapoor said that she is looking forward to the movie. She noted, “Imtiaz and Sajid have the rare ability to capture love with honesty and depth. Laila Majnu found its audience over time, and became a cult classic! Heer Ranjha is a love story that aims to transcend time and emotions. We hope to touch audiences across the Indian diaspora and beyond, with our storytelling.”

Imtiaz Ali opened up about the movie and his collaboration with Ektaa Kapoor. The director quipped about the film’s own world and rhythm. He also shared, “Heer Ranjha has its own world and rhythm – it speaks the love language of this generation while staying rooted in something eternal. Collaborating with Ektaa again feels like a natural continuation of a shared emotional language.”

Apart from Imtiaz Ali and Ektaa Kapoor, the movie will also have Shobha Kapoor and Preety Ali as producers. The makers have intentionally made the Valentine’s Day announcement of the film. This is to build excitement amongst fans about another classic love story. The plot and cast of the film have been kept under the wraps. It is also not known if Avinash and Triptii would anyway be associated with the project.
