A tragic road accident occurred on the northern side of Bengaluru on Saturday night, as a Tata Indica with five passengers rammed into a KSTRC bus, resulting in the loss of all five lives.

As per the police sources, the car was overspeeding, and the driver might have lost control. As a result, it first hit a divider, then crossed over to the opposite side of the lane, and crashed into the KSRTC. The impact of the accident was so severe that the car was completely damaged, and the four passengers, aged between 17 and 22, died on the spot. The other passenger sustained critical injuries and was taken to the nearby hospital. However, he also died.

All 43 passengers, who were on the bus, evacuated safely. They were onboarded on a different bus for the rest of the journey.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru police have launched an investigation, further looking for the reasons behind the accident. Joint Commissioner of Police Karthik Reddy said the cause of the accident will be investigated, and it will be examined whether the driver of the car and its occupants had consumed alcohol.

“We have gathered blood samples and have sent them to FSL for tests. Their background is also being verified,” he told PTI.

The mother of one of the victims told the press that her son had told her that he was going to a temple and would be late.

“I have lost a son, who had come of age… He was working as a CCTV camera operator. They (all deceased) are friends, I don’t know whose car it is,” she mentioned.
