Potato Mochai Curry
I love the combination of aloo and mochai which is also known as field beans and hyacinth beans along with some mild coconut masala. It is a popular South Indian combination in food which is simple to make.

It taste great when mixed with hot rice and some ghee. My little one loves it. I was lucky enough to get my hands on these beautiful purple fresh Mochai in my supermarket, Immediately picked a packet and made this curry. If you cannot get fresh ones, you can make this with dried ones too.
About Mochai Curry
Mochai and Potatoes are perfect combo in curries. They pair well and is used in many side dishes across South of India.
This is a simple coconut based curry made with mochai kottai and potato. The curry has a coconut masala which flavours to whole dish.
You can mix this with hot rice and ghee and enjoy this curry.

Step by Step Pictures
1)Take potatoes, peel off skin and cut them int big wedges.

2)Take your fresh mochai. Rinse them really well. If you are using dried mochai, soak them overnight in water before cooking them separately.

3)Take potatoes and mochai in a pressure cooker, add little water and salt. Pressure cook for 2 whistle, simmer for 5 mins. Turn off the heat and let them steam escape all by itself.Â

4)Open the cooker and check whether the potatoes and mochai is cooked. Set aside.

5)Take coconut in a blender.

6)Add in cumin, garlic, dry red chillies and turmeric in a blender.

7)Add little water and and make it into a slightly coarse puree. Set aside.

8)Heat coconut oil in a kadai. Add in mustard, dry red chilli, curry leaves and let them sizzle.

9)Add in cooked potatoes and mochai along with any cooking liquid. Strain if there is so much liquid.

10)Add coconut masala and salt.

11)Mix well and Cook till everything gets dry.

12)Serve hot with rice.
