The global box office is bracing for a major showdown as the release date for Yash’s much-awaited film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups, has been rescheduled. Originally slated for a March 19 release, the film will now arrive in theatres on June 4, 2026. This new date sets up a direct clash with Varun Dhawan’s upcoming romantic comedy, Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan.
The decision to postpone the Yash-starrer was not due to production issues but was influenced by the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The makers of Toxic clarified that the crisis in the region created uncertainty about their international release plans. Given that the project is designed for a global audience, the team felt a delay was necessary to ensure a wider reach, as current conditions in the Middle East were unfavourable for a major release.
Addressing the potential friction caused by the overlapping dates, a spokesperson from KVN Productions said that the move was handled with transparency. According to a report by Money Control, the source said, “When the owner of KVN, Mr Venkat, realised the dates were overlapping, he personally reached out to the makers of Varun’s film, Mr Ramesh Taurani, to avoid any unnecessary friction.”
The spokesperson further mentioned that Anil Thadani helped facilitate the conversation, adding, “Toxic makers were clear that they didn’t want the other project to face the kind of uncertainty his film had earlier encountered. The discussion happened well before the official announcement of the new release date, so both teams were completely aware that a clash was on the horizon. It was all handled transparently and cordially.”
However, conflicting reports have surfaced. According to Bollywood Hungama, a source suggested that the team behind Varun Dhawan’s film including producer Ramesh Taurani and director David Dhawan only learned of the clash through social media. The report stated, “If a film has already locked a release slot and another filmmaker plans to come on the same day, it’s customary to inform the makers who had taken the date first. In this case, that didn’t happen. Varun Dhawan, director David Dhawan and producer Ramesh Taurani learned that Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups was arriving in the same week as their film only after actor Yash posted the news on social media.”
Amidst the discussions, Yash released an official statement to explain the delay to his fans. He said, “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is a film we conceptualized with the vision to create cinema for a global audience. Filmed in Kannada and English, it is built with the conviction to connect with viewers both at home and across the world. After years of dedicated labour, we were excited to share our film with you all on the 19th of March. However, the current uncertainty, especially in the Middle East, has created a situation that impacts our goal to reach and connect with the widest possible audience. Therefore, in the interest of our partners and our audience, we have made the difficult but carefully considered decision to reschedule our release. We thank you for your understanding and patience and look forward to your continued love and support.”
