In total, 17 alerts involved the United States in January with examples including titanium dioxide in pastries and ethylene oxide in a spice mix.

The first report for 2026 on suspected frauds in Europe has highlighted issues ranging from olive oil adulteration to products with added water.

There were 189 reports in January 2026, 196 in December 2025 and 194 in November. Earlier data for 2025 shows 223 notices in October, 164 in September, 166 in August, 136 in July, 164 in June and 129 in May.
