The Greater Chennai City Police has booked Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader C.Joseph Vijay and his party cadres for conducting election campaigning in a manner causing inconvenience to the public.

This case was registered by Peravallur police of Greater Chennai City Police based on a complaint from V.Kumar, an officer in charge of Static Surveillance Team of Kolathur Assembly constituency. The complainant stated that on Monday, while he was on duty at SRP Koil South Street to Peravallur Junction, around 3,000 members belonging to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) gathered on the road, holding party flags and causing obstruction to the public and vehicular traffic.

At about 3:40 pm, TVK leader Mr. Vijay arrived in a campaign vehicle along with others. Subsequently, around 5,000 party cadres assembled, blocking the movement of the public, ambulances, and other vehicles. About 30 loudspeakers were installed on the roadside, and slogans of TVK were raised at high volume while Vijay carried out election campaigning until 3:45 pm. A roadshow was also conducted, further disrupting traffic. — The Hindu Bureau
