A seven-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district was locked inside a freezer for around five hours by a shopkeeper who accused him of stealing food at his shop. A video of the incident went viral and triggered outrage online.
The accused, identified as Azad, who was arrested, caught the boy on suspicion of theft. To give him punishment, he locked the child inside the freezer for around five hours, abusing him and threatening to kill him, as seen in the viral video.
“Will you steal again? You said you didn’t steal. What’s your name? You’ve been getting on my nerves,” Azad berates and abuses the child who is crying and is in mental trauma.
In the video, the accused is heard threatening to slit the boy’s throat with a knife. The visibly terrified child can be seen pleading and denying the accusation.
The boy’s father said his son cried for hours and demanded strict action against the accused.
Police said they acted swiftly after the video went viral. The accused has been arrested and officials said that strict legal action was being taken in the case.
