TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna on Saturday alleged that the DMK and BJP were behind an upcoming film that he claimed was aimed at insulting party chief Vijay, warning that such a movie “will not last even a day” in theatres.
Speaking to reporters, Arjuna said attempts to degrade their leader through cinema were part of a political ploy and questioned who had given filmmakers the authority to make a movie targeting Vijay.
Referring to Jananayagan, he asked how a politically driven film could be allowed for release if Vijay’s own film was facing hurdles. Though he said he was unaware of the movie’s content, Arjuna claimed he had received information suggesting both the BJP and DMK were operating behind the scenes.
He asserted that the audience response to Vijay’s films, with teasers drawing 10 to 15 crore views, reflected the leader’s mass appeal and said any film made against him would fail to sustain even for half a day.
Earlier, Actor-turned-politician and TVK chief Vijay has come under scrutiny after discrepancies surfaced in his election affidavits regarding pending criminal cases, raising questions over disclosure norms ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
According to documents reviewed by India Today TV, Vijay’s affidavit filed from Perambur stated that there are no pending cases against him. However, his affidavit from Tiruchirappalli (East) mentioned two cases as pending.
The mismatch has triggered concerns over the accuracy and completeness of his declarations. Legal experts indicated that the only corrective course available in such a situation is the submission of a revised affidavit clarifying the discrepancies.
