BHOPAL: A trainee pilot was injured after an aircraft crash-landed in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district Wednesday. A technical snag is suspected to have brought down the plane, officials said.
The pilot was identified as Nancy Mishra, a student of Chimes Aviation Academy. Flying solo, she took off from Neemuch around 11.30am for Dhana airstrip in Sagar, officials said. Around four hours into the flight, the pilot reported an engine issue and tried to make an emergency landing at the Guna aerodrome, sources said. During the landing attempt, however, the aircraft collided with a tree and crashed into some bushes near a pond around 4pm.
Villagers alerted police and a team rushed to the spot. The cops cordoned off the crash zone and a CID team inspected the site. SI Chanchal Mishra said the aircraft had a mid-air malfunction, leading to the emergency landing and crash. The aircraft, a four-seater Cessna 172S, belonged to Chimes Aviation Academy, Dhana.
