Joint police teams from Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir are conducting extensive raids in Shopian, targeting activists and doctors in connection with the recent Delhi Red Fort blast. The searches, which include the residences of former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Hameed Fayyaz and activist Mohammad Yusuf Falahi, are based on the interrogation of Maulvi Irfan Ahmad, a cleric accused of orchestrating a terror module of educated professionals. According to India Today’s Ashraf Wani, ‘This trend started after the Burhanwani…when the young, young minds and particularly the professionals, including the professors, engineers and even doctors then joined the terror ranks.’ The investigation is focused on a network of radicalised individuals, including Dr. Umar Mohammad, who is suspected of driving the car that exploded in Delhi.
