Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh will not be taking oath as a Member of Parliament today, as the Rajya Sabha Chairman has refused permission. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has stated that the matter is currently with the Privileges Committee. Singh has been arrested and charge-sheeted in the Delhi Excise Policy money laundering case. The Rouse Avenue court has allowed Singh to take oath as an MP in custody, and his judicial custody has been extended till February 17.
Special Judge MK Nagpal has granted Singh’s request to take oath in judicial custody. However, he has withdrawn his plea for interim bail to attend the ongoing Parliament session and take the oath. Singh is required to appear before a court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on February 7.
The High Court is currently reviewing his bail application. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed Singh’s bail petition, alleging that he was involved in money laundering and acquiring proceeds of crime from the Delhi Liquor Scam. Singh was arrested by the ED on October 4, 2023, in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
