Abhishek Bachchan saved money for Amitabh Bachchan’s struggling firm by reducing the amount of sugar | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Abhishek Bachchan recalled his career beginnings and said that he worked his way up from being a production assistant to starring in major Bollywood movies. After his father, Amitabh Bachchan, experienced financial difficulties after the failure of his business, Abhishek dropped out of his American college and returned to India.
In a roundtable interview with Galatta Plus, Abhishek said that he was a runner. He used to make tea on set. His dear friend Sikandar and his father Gautam Berry became the CEO, and he said to me, ‘Get on set and start making tea’. I said, Why? He said, ‘Start controlling the amount of sugar they use because the sugar bill is high’. These are the kinds of small things, and he went up from there; he became an AD.
Abhishek also shared an incident when he caught the eye of JP Dutta at an event, who called him in for a meeting a couple of days later. He’d eventually be cast in the film ‘Refugee’, which featured fellow debutante Kareena Kapoor. Abhishek said that Rakeysh Mehra is horrible at narrations, which is why he turned down ‘Rang De Basanti‘ when he was approached with it. He learned his lesson and agreed to do ‘Delhi-6’ without reading the script at all.
