In this news report, India Today’s Amit Bharadwaj details a shocking incident at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport where an off-duty Air India Express pilot, Captain Virender Sejwal, allegedly assaulted passenger Ankit Dewan. The altercation began when Dewan, travelling with his wife and infant, objected to staff cutting the security queue. The pilot reportedly questioned Dewan’s literacy, asking if he was ‘uneducated’, before the argument escalated into physical violence that left Dewan bleeding. Bharadwaj highlights serious allegations that airport authorities delayed first aid by 45 minutes and forced Dewan to sign a submission waiving legal action to board his flight. The airline has suspended the pilot pending an inquiry.
