The Bar Council of India has released the schedule of the 19th Bar Council of India Qualifying Examination for Indian nationals holding foreign law degrees. The qualifying exam will be held from December 18 to 23, 2023 in a single shift – from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The exam will be conducted on the premises of the Bar Council of India at 21, Rouse Avenue, Institutional Area, New Delhi – 110002.There will be 6 physical papers of 3 hours each and of 100 marks spread over 6 days.
“For candidates who have appeared in the examination previously and have one or two or more subject papers to clear, this examination is giving an opportunity of re-examination to all those candidates, who have not cleared all the papers in previous exam,” reads the official notice. Such candidates will be required to appear in that subject paper only.
Candidates should ensure to carry the Admit cards, photo identity proof, (Passport/Aadhar) Original mark sheets/degree certificates/other documents of the candidate in original for the exam.
Candidates may note that they will not be allowed to carry bare acts and books, including question-answer guides, notes, and others inside the exam hall except for the Constitution of India, Contract Law and Negotiable Instruments Act, and Company Law papers.

All candidates must hand over their smartphones, watches, or any internet-connected devices before the exam. Additionally, any prohibited materials like bare acts, books, guidebooks, or unauthorized notes should also be submitted. If a candidate is caught with such items, as cheating, or engaging in unfair practices, talking to other candidates during the exam, the invigilator may ask them to surrender their paper. The candidate could face disqualification from the exam, or the invigilator may allow them to continue with a fresh answer sheet, depending on the invigilator’s decision.
