In a significant development regarding the Pune land scam case, the Bombay High Court has issued a stinging rebuke to the police. Justice Madhav Jamdar questioned why Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, remains unnamed in the FIR despite his company being at the centre of the controversial Mundhwa land deal, estimated to be worth ₹1800 crore. The court bluntly asked if the police were ‘protecting the influential political heir’ while aggressively pursuing other accused, such as businesswoman Sheetal Tejwani. Tejwani, who was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing, has approached the Sessions Court for relief as scrutiny over the investigation intensifies.
