Alleging that the intentions of the caste census report of the Siddaramaiah-led government and the one planned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi were “entirely different”, the BJP on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) called upon its workers to create public awareness in this regard.

“While the Prime Minister has announced caste census to provide social justice and bring about equality by providing strength to the downtrodden sections, Mr. Siddaramaiah is using the caste census report for his selfish political gains by trying to create a gulf between different communities,” alleged BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra.

Addressing a meeting of OBC leaders convened by the party in Bengaluru, Mr. Vijayendra said if the intentions of Mr. Siddaramaiah were to provide social justice to the oppressed sections through caste census, then he would not have waited for 10 years after conducting the census to talk about its implementation.

While Mr. Siddaramaiah is only talking about implementing caste census report for the last 10 years, other States have implemented it within a year, he maintained.

“There is no guarantee that the caste census report would be implemented soon by Mr. Siddaramaiah though he is talking about it,” Mr. Vijayendra remarked. “Unlike Mr. Siddaramaiah, who created a fanfare about caste census without taking it to logical end, Mr. Modi has announced the decision to take up caste census silently,” he maintained.
