A man and his daughter were seriously injured after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district. The accident occurred on Monday morning around 8.20 am when the car lost control and crashed into the two-wheeler before also hitting another vehicle.
A CCTV footage of the incident shows the man riding a scooter with his daughter, who is carrying a school bag – suggesting he may have been dropping her to school – moving normally along the road as other vehicles pass by. Moments later, a grey-coloured car suddenly appears from behind, crashes into them, flings them off, then hits a tempo traveller coming from the opposite direction, and stops.
Bystanders rushed to help and called for an ambulance, following which the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident triggered panic among commuters.
MUMBAI MAN KILLED IN HIT-AND-RUN
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run case in Mumbai’s Vile Parle East in the early hours of Wednesday. The victim, identified as Neelkanth Vijay Ingle, was riding his motorcycle to Matunga to meet his wife and three-month-old son when an unidentified vehicle rammed into him from behind near Centaur Hotel.
Police said Ingle was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His wife had recently given birth and was staying at her maternal home. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence, and efforts are on to trace the vehicle involved.
