LUCKNOW: Special Judge, CBI cases, Lucknow has sentenced Rajesh Kansal, to imprisonment of four years and imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000 in a case related to causing loss to Railways.
CBI had registered a case in May 1998 on the allegations that Rajesh Kansal, in connivance with other accused public servants caused a loss of Rs 2.55 lakh to Railways and corresponding gain to accused based on fake purchase order, bills.
After completion of the investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet in October 1999. Charges were framed in May 2002 and March 2015 against the accused persons. In a separate trial against Rajesh Kansal, 16 witnesses were examined. The Court, after trial, held the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
Earlier on March 21, 2024 the court had convicted and sentenced accused Ajay Tiwari, Accountant, North Eastern Railway, Lucknow and one Rajesh Gupta, to seven years’ imprisonment with fine of Rs 65,000 each in the instant case.
