NEW DELHI: The registration portal for Phase IV of Yuva Sangam, an initiative under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, was opened by the Centre on Thursday. Yuva Sangam, conceived by the Government of India, aims to foster a stronger people-to-people connection among the youth from different States and Union Territories (UTs) of India. In the previous three phases, the registrations for Yuva Sangam reached 16,767, 21,380, and 29,151, respectively.
The concept of a sustained and organized cultural connection between people from diverse regions was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Rashtriya Ekta Divas on October 31, 2015, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To advance this idea, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) was launched on the same date in 2016.
Yuva Sangam, launched under EBSB, aligns with the key themes of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing experiential learning and fostering an understanding of India’s rich diversity on a first hand basis. Participants in Yuva Sangam gain an immersive experience of various aspects of life, natural landscapes, developmental landmarks, recent achievements, and youth connections in the host state.
For Phase IV of Yuva Sangam, twenty-two prominent institutions across India have been identified. During this phase, participants from these states/UTs, led by the nodal Higher Education Institution (HEI) of the respective state/UT, will visit their paired state/UTs.
The initiative focuses on organizing educational-cum-cultural tours for youth, including on-campus and off-campus students, from one state/ UT to another. The tours provide multi-dimensional exposure under five broad areas: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology). Youth from various states/ UTs will spend 5-7 days (excluding travel days) visiting their paired counterparts, and the opportunity to engage with the local youth.
