A man in Coimbatore allegedly killed his wife over the suspicion of an extramarital relationship and then posted a chilling selfie with her body.

The accused, Balamurugan from Tirunelveli, had been married to Sri Priya and the couple had three children. For personal reasons, Sri Priya was living in a women’s hostel in Coimbatore and working there, away from her husband.

Police said Balamurugan suspected that Sri Priya was in a relationship with another person. On the day of the incident, he went to the hostel where she was staying and asked her to come with him. When she refused, an argument broke out. During the confrontation, Balamurugan pulled out a hidden sickle and attacked her, killing her on the spot.

After the murder, he reportedly sat next to the body until the police arrived. In a disturbing act, he also took a selfie with Sri Priya’s corpse lying in a pool of blood and uploaded it as his status with the caption, “the payment for betrayal is death.”

Rathnapuri Police later arrested Balamurugan and have begun an investigation into the case.
