VISAKHAPATNAM: Videos of the distribution of liquor and live chicken on Kanuma day, the next day of Sankranti, allegedly by the Visakha South MLA or his supporters have become viral on social media. Cadres and supporters of Visakha South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar were seen coming with liquor bottles and a live chicken from one of the MLA’s educational institutes on Tuesday creating a sensation not only in the port city but also across the state.
Now, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar’s rival group including corporators is demanding the education and prohibition and excise department to take action against his college and him, otherwise, they would stage protests against the concerned government departments.
The intelligence wing cops are gathering information about the incident. In those videos, cadres or supporters of YSRCP and MLA were coming out from the Rambanam Junior College with nine horses brand liquor and live chicken. After the issue created a sensation, MLA’s henchmen swung into action for damage control measures. By that time, a few YSRCP leaders had complained to the concerned government department.
However, the former YSRCP leader and State Brahmin Corporation former Chairman Seetamraju Sudhakar along with four YSRCP corporators from the Visakha South Constituency found fault with MLA and demanded the Education Department and Prohibition and Excise Department to take stringent action against the college and also the MLA.
Seetamraju Sudhakar alleged that how MLA possessed more than 400 liquor bottles when the rule says only three bottles are permitted to be kept. “Moreover all those liquor bottles are cheap liquor and distributing chicken and liquor in an education institution is not a crime?” he asked. Sudhakar announced that he is joining another political party along with 10 to 12 corporators.
Corporators Villuri Bhaskara Rao, Urukuti Narayana Rao, Chenna Janakiram, Bipin Jain, and former corporator Koppula Venkata Rao raised their voice against the alleged act of MLA. Repeatedly tried to contact the MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, but he did not pick up calls.
