Doja Cat is joining the chorus of people slamming Timothée Chalamet over his controversial comments about opera and ballet.
The hip hop star posted a TikTok Sunday addressing the issue … kicking things off by pointing out opera and ballet are 400 and 500 years old, respectively. She then mispronounced Timothée’s name before saying he “had the nerve” to tell the cameras that nobody cares about the art forms anymore.

Doja also said she’s “pretty sure” if someone went to an opera house today it would be completely packed — with audiences sitting silently during the performance because “they have so much respect” for the genre, which is “very beautiful.”
She also pointed out the physical toll on dancers, saying performers endure intense pain and suffering simply because they love what they do.
Doja went on to say that even though the industry is going through a tough period, it doesn’t mean people have stopped caring about opera and ballet.
As you know, Timothée has been catching heat after saying he wouldn’t want to work in opera and ballet simply to keep those alive — claiming “no one cares about [opera or ballet] anymore.”
Timothée made the controversial remarks during a CNN-Variety town hall in Austin, Texas on February 21, where he was discussing the future of the movie industry with Matthew McConaughey and comparing it to opera and ballet.

Since then, the Metropolitan Opera and other institutions have fired back at Timothée’s comments. The Met even posted a video of staff preparing for a performance with the caption, “This one’s for you, Timothée Chalamet.”
