Police have arrested a woman thief for stealing a pair of tops from a jewellery shop in Faridabad, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused woman, Kajal (30), is married and a habitual offender. She was released on bail from Faridabad District’s Neemka Jail around three months ago and committed the crime again.
Kajal was produced in a city court on Wednesday and was sent to one-day police custody.
According to the police, Rajesh Kumar, of Bhagat Singh Colony, Faridabad, had filed a complaint with the Ballabgarh City Police Station, alleging that on February 27, a woman came to his jewellery shop on the pretext of looking at gold jewellery.
As per the complaint, she asked to see the jewellery and engaged Rajesh in conversation. When Rajesh turned away to get more jewellery sets to display in front of her, she allegedly stole a pair of tops from the set already in front of her.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Ballabgarh City Police Station under relevant sections of the BNS. While investigating, the police team arrested Kajal, of Indira colony, Sector 8, Faridabad, on Tuesday.
Her questioning is underway, said Faridabad police spokesperson.
