The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) kick-started works of the ₹8 crore Godavari Riverfront Development Plan along the banks of river Godavari, in preparation for the Godavari Pushkarams in 2027 with a bhumi puja ceremony. As part of the river-front development, 22 parks with supporting infrastructure will be developed along the banks of the river Godavari.
Additionally, East Godavari Collector P. Prasanthi, announced that the Centre has granted ₹100 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project and works would begin soon. Of this ₹97 crore would be spent on the beautification and development of infrastructure facilities within the Rajamahendravaram city.
RMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said that works worth ₹128 crore related to the Godavari Pushkarams-2027 are currently underway in the city.
Attending the bhumi puja for the river-front development works were Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddi Srinivas, Rajanagaram MLA B. Balarama Krishna, Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority Chairman Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary and other public representatives.
