The announcement was made before the series premiered on HBO. For the uninitiated, fantasy drama, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, premiered on January 18, 2026, and is streaming on HBO and HBO Max. The series is created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin. Speaking to Deadline, Casey said:
“That would be a conversation with Ira and George. Certainly possible. So we’ll see. They’re producing Season 2 right now, Season 3 beyond that. I haven’t really gotten into what’s possible beyond that, but if he’s got more stories, it’s certainly something to talk to Ira and George about.”

During the same interview, HBO Chairman and CEO, Casey Bloys, revealed that the production of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2 has already started. Reportedly, the new season of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms will release next year in 2027. Casey mentioned that the release pattern will be annual. He was quoted as saying:
“Yes, they’re currently shooting. This will be annual. Again, it was something that we were trying to — it’s not possible for all shows — but it is something that, where it’s possible creatively, to get back to that and we’d like to try and do that.”

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 1 consists of six episodes. The fifth episode of the series is set to release on February 16, 2026. The story of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms revolves around ‘Dunk’ (played by Peter Claffey), a hedge knight and his squire, ‘Egg’ (played by Dexter Sol Ansell). The two wandered Westeros. However, ‘Dunk’ has no clue about ‘Egg’s royal ties. ‘Egg’ is the Targaryen prince. But ‘Dunk’, without knowing the secret of ‘Egg’, started his journey to prove himself.
Speaking to Cinema Daily US, creator, Ira Parker shared how the relationship between the two characters, ‘Dunk’Â and ‘Egg’, has been built up. He revealed that when the duo met each other for the first time, they were actually quite lonely. While ‘Dunk’Â had lost his mentor, ‘Egg’ had his own reasons for loneliness. He was quoted as saying:
“Obviously, Dunk has just lost his longtime mentor and pretty much the only person in the whole world who even knows he exists. And we find Egg in a different loneliness by himself. He’s been abandoned, he’s aimless. There’s something unconscious about the reason they seek each other out. This whole story is about family, about the different nature of how families are made. This relationship is, at its core, a knight and a squire, but that’s also a mentor and mentee, a master and apprentice. But there’s also a father and son. Dunk is very protective of Egg; they have a complicated relationship.”
