The Indian music and film industry is in a state of mourning after it lost one of its most versatile singers, Asha Bhosle, on April 12, 2026. For the unversed, the legendary playback singer died at the age of 92. As she gets state honours, many celebrities visited Asha’s residence to pay their respects to her for the last time. From the pictures and videos from her residence, we could see celebs like Tabu, Sachin Tendulkar, his wife, Anjali Tendulkar, and Jackie Shroff, among others. What caught everyone’s attention was how Jackie lost his cool when the paparazzi asked him how he felt about Asha’s demise.
Actor, Jackie Shroff, schools the paparazzi for their insensitive behaviour
On April 13, 2026, among the hordes of celebrities, Jackie Shroff was seen arriving at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, to attend the last rites of the iconic singer, Asha Bhosle. Now, with a gathering like that, where celebrities were constantly pouring in and out, the paparazzi were naturally present. Upon spotting Jackie, they asked the actor how he felt about Asha Bhosle’s death, prompting him to express his frustration with the seemingly insensitive question. Jackie paused to school the paparazzi. He returned the paparazzi’s question with his own question. Jackie asked, “Kasha vatnar, konachi aai geli tar? Aamchi aai geli hai,” translating to how someone would feel if their mother passed away, adding that it is their mother who is gone.

After this, Jackie went on to ask if such questions should be asked during a funeral. He asked the paparazzi what they meant when they asked him how it felt. In his words: “Kasa vatel manje, tere bolne ka matlab hai, kaisa lagta hai maa kisi ki gayi to kaisa lagta hai?” To this, the paparazzi responded with, “Bura hi lagta hai.” At this point, Jackie Shroff was already over their insensitive behaviour, telling them that the matter ends here and that this is not the time to say such things. He eventually told the paparazzi to go home. Jackie was quoted as saying:
“Bas, khatam ho gya baat. Hi time nahi re bolaycha, rahu de dada, ghari jaa.”
