A horrific case of child sexual assault has emerged from the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a cleric, identified as Maulana Islam, has been arrested for the repeated rape of a 14-year-old girl. The crime came to light only after the minor experienced severe pain and subsequently gave birth to a child at home. According to police reports from the Pilkhuwa police station area, the accused was a neighbour who allegedly threatened the victim into silence. The victim’s family filed a formal complaint on 17 February 2026 after the intervening night of 14 and 15 February when the child’s medical condition became critical. The police have registered an FIR and are currently interrogating the accused.
