Celine Dion’s eldest child, René-Charles Angélil, has started pursuing a career in music
René-Charles Angélil is the eldest child of Celine Dion. René-Charles had attended his mother’s performance many years ago, and Celine once told PEOPLE that she felt nauseous before that show since her son was going to watch her as a performer. René-Charles grew up developing an interest in sports. However, he later shifted his focus to music. René-Charles has two singles in his credits, Catwalks and Loft Music Remix. The songs received a positive response on SoundCloud when they were released in 2018.
René-Charles later released an EP, Casino.5, in 2021. According to the Montreal Gazette, René-Charles recorded his first two singles in a studio at his residence. While speaking to the outlet, René-Charles recalled the time when his mother heard the songs and said:
“I just felt like keeping it on the low. But she loved it. She was just kind of stunned at first, because she’d never heard anything from me. It was kind of a weird conversation: ‘Ma, I’m No. 1 and No. 2 on the charts right now.’ She was like: ‘Why didn’t you tell me first?’ But she’s very supportive of my passion for this.”
Celine Dion suffered a miscarriage before her twin children were born
Back in 2010, Celine Dion welcomed two twin children. The kids were born around ten years after Rene-Charles Angelil. Notably, Celine suffered a miscarriage and went through multiple IVF rounds before the kids, Eddy and Nelson, were born. While announcing the news, Celine’s husband, René Angélil, expressed happiness about the fact that his wife was expecting a healthy pregnancy and a baby. However, René said that the news of having twins can be considered a “double blessing.”
Eddy’s name was taken from Eddy Marnay, who was the producer of a few albums released by Celine Dion. Nelson’s name was taken from Nelson Mandela, and Celine had also met the late activist in the past. A representative revealed the reasons behind naming the two kids, Eddy and Nelson, saying that Celine has been inspired by those two individuals over the years. Although the children’s interests have not been revealed yet, Celine spoke about them in an interview with Hello! Magazine in 2010. She said at that time:
“One is more gutsy than the other. Nelson seems to have a little stronger personality right now. He’s the tougher of the two. They are fraternal twins, but they look very alike. Nelson weighed more at the birth, but the doctor told us in a week or two, they’re going to be the same.”
