Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar defended the Governor’s decision to allow the police to inquire former minister K.T. Rama Rao in the Formula E car race, calling it a “constitutionally valid and necessary step.”
He criticised the BRS leadership for what he described as “false propaganda” and repeated claims that the inquiry was politically motivated.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mr Dayakar said the Opposition’s allegation of political vendetta lacks credibility. “How many times will they repeat the same accusation? Before the law, everyone is equal. If a mistake is committed, the law takes its own course,” he asserted.
Referring to the allegations related to the Formula E race case, he stated that the government was convinced that irregularities had occurred under Mr. Rao’s watch when he served as a minister. “In the larger public interest, and as custodian of people’s money, the government sought a lawful and judicial inquiry,” he said.
Mr Dayakar alleged that the previous BRS government is attempting to evade responsibility with “baseless and immature arguments.” He added that Mr. Rao must prove his innocence through due legal process. “If he has done no wrong, let him demonstrate that before the law,” he said.
