In a significant legal development, a Delhi court has refused to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The court noted that the probe was based on a private complaint by Subramanian Swamy and not an FIR. Following the order, Congress MPs staged a protest at the Makar Dwar in Parliament, claiming that the ‘politically motivated prosecution’ has been exposed. An Unidentified speaker stated, ‘Gandhi family contributed their entire property from the days of Motilal level… Today, a justice has been prevailed.’ The BJP, however, termed it a ‘temporary relief’. India Today reporters Piyush Mishra and Rahul Gautam provide details on the political face-off.
