JJP‘s chief indirectly benefited BJP by asking his 10 MLAs to absent themselves from proceedings, allowing BJP to easily sail through the floor test with its own 41 MLAs. The backing of seven other members – six Independents and Gopal Kanda of Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) – came as additional support for BJP.

However, a few other politicians, including Kiran Chaudhry of Congress, Abhay Chautala of INLD and Independent MLA from Meham Balraj Kundu, left the House during voting.
Five JJP MLAs – Devender Babli of Tohana, Ramniwas Surjakhera of Narwana, Jogiram Sihag of Barwala, Ishwar Singh of Guhla and Ram Kumar Gautam of Narnaund – were present in the assembly during the discussion but all left before the floor test. Barring Ram Kumar Gautam, four of these MLAs were also present during the oath ceremony of CM Saini at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Reports are emerging that these five MLAs have also kept their distance from Dushyant Chautala.
“This is the first time in the history of the country that a party has issued a whip to its MLAs to remain absent from the House. By doing so, JJP directly supported the confidence motion of BJP govt,” said Bhupinder Singh Hooda, leader of opposition.
Hooda claimed that the purpose of breaking the alliance is also to help BJP in elections.
After Saini won the confidence motion by a voice vote, former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced he was resigning as Karnal MLA.
