A man, who was allegedly drunk, killed his wife following an argument over suspicions about her character and later dumped her body in a septic tank at their home in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district. The case came to light after the couple’s four-year-old son, who witnessed the incident, alerted neighbours.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Borgaan village when the accused, identified as Subas Gond, killed his wife, Manai Gond, following a heated argument on April 11 after the couple returned from a wedding function with their children.

According to preliminary information, the argument escalated over suspicion regarding the woman’s character, leading to a violent altercation in which Subas allegedly assaulted her, resulting in her death on the spot. The victim’s family has claimed he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The accused then disposed of the body in the septic tank of their house. The case came to light when their four-year-old son, who witnessed the incident, informed neighbours and relatives, prompting locals to confront the accused.

Although he initially tried to mislead them, Subas later confessed under pressure.

Police reached the spot after locals informed them, recovered the body and detained the accused for questioning.
