NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took the elephant and jeep safari in Assam‘s Kaziranga National Park, during his maiden visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site.
On a two-day visit to the state, he had arrived at Kaziranga on Friday night. It is pertinent to mention that PM Modi is the first Prime Minister to spend the night in Kaziranga.

In the afternoon, he is also expected to dedicate the 125-foot-tall “Statue of Valour” honoring the late Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in Jorhat.
The Prime Minister will next travel to Meleng Meteli Pothar, which is located in the Jorhat district, to officially launch and lay the foundation stones for state and federal projects valued at over Rs 18,000 crore.
At the same location, he is expected to speak at a public gathering as well.
