Kolkata, January 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit West Bengal for a two-day tour this month.
According to BJP sources, the prime minister will visit Bengal in the third week of January. PM Modi will hold a public rally in North Malda on January 17 and flag off the Howrah-Guwahati Vande Bharat Sleeper train from the Howrah station on January 18.
Though the detailed itinerary is yet to be drawn up, party sources informed that Modi will address the BJP’s Paribartan Sankalpa Sabha in Howrah as well.
According to the sources, BJP national president J P Nadda is also set to visit Kolkata on January 8 for a program of the health and family welfare ministry, but the state BJP unit has also sought time from his office. They added that the state unit of the party will request Nadda to hold a meeting with state leaders at the state party headquarters.
In December 2025, the prime minister was scheduled to hold a public meeting in Taherpur, Nadia. However, due to bad weather, Modi’s helicopter could not land there. Thereafter, Modi virtually addressed BJP workers and supporters in Taherpur from the Kolkata airport.
During his speech, Modi repeatedly accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of corruption. The prime minister also called for ‘change’ in Bengal in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
