Prabhsimran Singh missed out on a huge Indian Premier League (IPL) record after being dismissed for 91 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday in Dharamshala. Had the Punjab Kings opener scored nine more runs, the right hander would have become the first uncapped player in the history of IPL to score multiple hundreds.
One of the main reasons for Punjab Kings‘ brilliant season in IPL 2025, Prabhsimran is placed seventh in the list for Orange Cap with 437 runs in 11 matches. His only IPL hundred came in IPL 2023 against Delhi Capitals, when he scored 103 off 65 balls.
Although nine uncapped players have reached the coveted three-figure mark in IPL, but none of them had scored more than one. Had Prabhsimran got two more hits to the fence, the 24-year-old would have etched his name into the history books.
Meanwhile, riding on Prabhsimran’s 48-ball knock, which included six fours and seven sixes, Punjab Kings posted a mammoth 236/5 in 20 overs. In fact, Prabhsimran also became the first uncapped batter to cross the 1000-run mark in IPL. He currently has 1193 in 45 matches.
Prabhsimran Singh journey in IPL
Having made his debut in IPL in 2019, Prabhsimran has been a Punjab Kings loyal since then. He didn’t much chances (six matches) in his first four seasons, before grabbing the limelight with a breakthrough IPL in 2023, scoring 358 runs from 14 games with a fifty and a hundred. He scored 334 runs in IPL 2024. The ongoing season is by far his best in IPL with 400-plus runs, including four half-centuries.
