The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh announced the formal process of organisational election to elect the new State party president. The formal process will be completed on December 14. Senior party leader and organisational election officer Mahendra Nath Pandey in a statement said nominations for the post of State president will be filed on December 13, 2025.
“The nomination process will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the BJP State headquarters in Lucknow on December 13, 2025. Nomination papers will be accepted in the presence of Central Election Observer Vinod Tawde. Central Election Officer Piyush Goyal will complete the election process on December 14, 2025. The formal announcement of the State president’s election will also be made on the same day, December 14,” reads the statement.
Two-week extension sought for SIR in Uttar Pradesh
Names of many prominent leaders are doing the rounds for the post amid the buzz that an Other Backward Class (OBC) leader might be given the responsibility. The names of Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhury, former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, are among those doing the rounds in political circles. The new president is likely to lead the party organisationally in the 2027 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
