About the plot

Retro is a gritty action-drama set between the 1960s and 1990s starring Suriya as Paarivel “Paari” Kannan, an orphan raised by a gangster named Thilagan played by Joju George. Paari grows up loyal to Thilagan’s criminal empire but dreams of leaving the violent life behind after falling in love with Rukmini played by Pooja Hegde, a veterinarian.
Despite the strong start, Retro received mixed and a divided response from the audiences, which affected its growth over the weekend. The film faced tough competition from Nani’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’, which impacted its box office trajectory.
