In a thrilling update for fans, director Imtiaz Ali is set to expand his romantic filmography with the upcoming film Heer Ranjha. After the cult success of the Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary starrer Laila Majnu, Imtiaz Ali is returning as a producer for this new venture.
Confirming the lead for the project, reports from Variety India indicate that Rohit Saraf has been locked to play the iconic role of Ranjha. The report stated, “Rohit Saraf is locked to play Ranjha. The 29-year-old actor, who has impressed audiences with performances in projects such as Ishq Vishk Rebound, Mismatched, and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, has landed what is expected to be his most intense and challenging leading role to date. Saraf will essay the role of Ranjha, while a newcomer is set to be launched as Heer. Sources say the actress has already been finalized, though her identity is being kept under wraps for now.”

The film, which will be directed by Sajid Ali, was officially announced on the occasion of Valentine’s Day with a poster. The title reveal has already sparked excitement, particularly among those who appreciated the deep-rooted emotional connection of the previous franchise entry.
Speaking about the project, producer Imtiaz Ali shared his vision for the reimagined classic, saying, “Heer Ranjha has its own world and rhythm, it speaks the love language of this generation while staying rooted in something eternal. Collaborating with Ektaa again feels like a natural continuation of a shared emotional language.”
Rooted in classic romance yet shaped for modern times, Heer Ranjha promises to provide a poetic and emotionally immersive cinematic experience for a new generation. Filming for the romantic drama is expected to begin soon.
Meanwhile, Rohit Saraf continues to have a busy year ahead. He will next be seen in the fourth and final season of the Netflix series Mismatched alongside Prajakta Koli. He is also set to play a freedom fighter in Nikkhil Advani’s historical web series The Revolutionaries, which also features Bhuvan Bam, Pratibha Ranta, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Jason Shah.
