A suspicious balloon was recovered from agricultural fields in Khanpur village of the Ramgarh area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Thursday, prompting a police investigation.
The balloon, which had “Pakistan Zindabad” written on it in Urdu, was spotted by a local resident, who alerted the Ramgarh police. Police took the balloon into custody and said further verification is underway to determine its exact nature and purpose.
The balloon is currently with the Ramgarh Police Station, and officials have advised residents to remain vigilant and report any similar objects immediately.
Separately, security forces launched a search operation in the Katli area of Samba district after a local resident claimed to have seen a suspicious individual carrying a weapon.
Meanwhile, security forces resumed a search operation on Thursday morning to track down terrorists hiding in a forest in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. A security personnel suffered a minor bullet injury on Wednesday after a gunfight broke out between the forces and the terrorists. The forces have busted a well-constructed terrorist hideout during the joint operation, they added.
The action by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces was launched at Kahog village in Billawar on Wednesday evening, leading to an encounter, the officials said.
