Wind Speed Likely to Slow Down from Today, Mercury May Rise | Delhi News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Gusty winds with speeds up to 40 kmph blew in the city for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Wind speed is likely to decrease starting from Friday. The day temperature is expected to show a marginal rising trend, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist and head, Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, IMD, said, “Strong winds prevailed in Delhi. Though the average wind speed recorded was 14 kmph, gusty winds of up to 40 kmph were witnessed from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm.”
The maximum temperature was 22.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, one degree below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 8.2 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Friday. The maximum temperature may rise to 25 degrees Celsius by Feb 13. There is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle on Feb 14.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) on Thursday continued to be in the ‘moderate’ category at 161. The air quality is likely to be ‘very poor’ on Feb 10 and 11.
