WUPPTCL powered AP outfit Jana Sena with Rs 9 crore | India News – Times of India


VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena, led by actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, received Rs 24.3 crore from electoral bonds. Most of the funding to Jana Sena was done in recent months.
Jana Sena is the youngest among prominent political parties in Andhra Pradesh. Founded just before the 2014 elections, Jana Sena contested polls five years later, in 2019. It managed to win just oneassembly seat and is now inalliance with TDP and BJP.
Western UP Power Transmission Company Ltd (WUPPTCL) is the top donor to Jana Sena. It purchased bonds worth Rs 9 crore. Pharma major Natco Pharma and Transways Exim Pvt Ltd, a Kolkata-based distillery which has operations in Hyderabad too, donated Rs 5 crore each. Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL), which is executing several infra projects in AP, donated Rs 4 crore. Incidentally, Megha has donated to all major parties in AP, including TDP. MEIL’s directors are also directors of WUPPTCL.
