Cantonment, known as a symbol of religious harmony, is gearing up for Christmas celebrations on Thursday, December 25, 2025. More than 10,000 Christians are expected to offer prayers at the Cantonment Baptist Church, one of the oldest churches in Vizianagaram.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Cantonment Baptist Church chairman R. Madhusudana Rao said that the life and teachings of Jesus Christ continued to guide people and inspire humanity. He said the church, constructed in 1961, had been carrying out service activities on the occasion of Christmas, cutting across caste, creed and religion. He also recalled that the CBM School had been providing education to students from various regions for several decades.

The RCM Church and SIIMS Memorial Baptist Church, among others, were decorated with lights as part of the celebrations. Leaders of various political parties attended semi-Christmas celebrations. In a press release, Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi conveyed her greetings to the Christian fraternity, stating that Vizianagaram was known for religious harmony and mutual respect among people of different faiths.
