The 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was observed with solemn ceremonies across the Kalyana Karnataka region on Saturday, with district administrations, public representatives and citizens paying floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution.
In Kalaburagi, the district administration and the Social Welfare Department organised the main event at Jagat Circle, where Regional Commissioner Zaheera Naseem, Deputy Commissioner B. Fauzia Taranum, Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa, Superintendent of Police Addoor Srinivasulu and Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhanwar Singh Meena offered floral tributes to the Ambedkar statue. Officials and community leaders participated in large numbers.
Later in the day, IT & BT Minister and district in-charge Minister Priyank Kharge also paid homage along with elected representatives.

In Bidar, Forest, Biology & Environment Minister and district in-charge Eshwar B. Khandre and Municipal Administration Minister Rahim Khan led the observance at Ambedkar Circle. Recalling Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle for social justice and equality, Mr. Khandre said the values enshrined in the Constitution continued to guide India’s progress even after 75 years of its adoption. Several elected representatives and senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Zilla Panchayat CEO, were present.
In Koppal, the district administration held a floral tribute programme at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where Deputy Commissioner Suresh B. Itnal and Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi paid homage. Later, officials and members of the public offered floral tributes and lit candles at the statues of Ambedkar, Basaveshwara and Jagjivan Ram at Ambigar Chowdaiah Park.
Vijayanagara district also observed Ambedkar Parinirvan Diwas with solemnity, where Deputy Commissioner Kavita S. Mannikeri described Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals as a guiding light for building a developed and equitable India. Speaking after offering floral tributes at Ambedkar Circle in Hosapete, she said Babasaheb’s vision of social justice, equality and constitutional governance continues to shape India’s progress, noting his enduring contributions to law, education, civil liberties and the fight against untouchability. A one-minute silence was observed in his memory, and senior officials, including ZP CEO Nongzai Mohammad Ali Akram Shah and District Police Superintendent S. Jahnavi, were present.
In Ballari, the commemoration was held at Ambedkar Bhavan near Kaul Bazaar, where MLA and Milk Federation Chairman Raghavendra Hitnal, Deputy Commissioner Nagendra Prasad K., Zilla Panchayat CEO Mohammad Haris Sumair and senior officials from various departments participated in paying respects.
Across the region, participants described Dr. Ambedkar as a global symbol of human dignity, intellectual courage and democratic values. Speakers said Mahaparinirvan Diwas was not merely a day of remembrance but a reminder of the constitutional responsibilities shared by every citizen. They stressed that Ambedkar’s vision of an inclusive India, free from discrimination and inequality, remained an unfinished national task that required continued commitment.
Leaders and activists called upon the younger generation to study the Constitution more deeply and draw inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s life of struggle and scholarship. They noted that issues such as social justice, educational empowerment, gender equality and protection of democratic institutions demanded renewed attention. The events concluded with an appeal to uphold Ambedkar’s ideals in public life and strengthen the values of liberty, equality and fraternity in society.
