In this news update, India Today’s Shivani Sharma reports on the detention of Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra in Phuket, Thailand. The brothers, co-owners of the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in Goa where a fire killed 25 people, are facing deportation. Shivani Sharma confirms that the Indian Embassy in Bangkok is in close contact with Thai officials. She states, ‘The Thai authorities are presently taking action as per the local laws including for sending the two individuals back to India.’ The report highlights that their passports were cancelled under Section 10A of the Passport Act, facilitating the deportation process.
