Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons issued to his son is at the root of the “political understanding” between the CPI(M) and the BJP, including alleged electoral support in Thrissur during 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to mediapersons in Chavakkad, Thrissur, on Monday (October 14, 2025), Mr. Satheesan questioned why the Chief Minister had “concealed” the ED summons served on his son.

“The notice was issued, but neither the Chief Minister nor the party revealed it. Even after the summons, the ED remained silent. What happened to the procedure that followed? How did the process suddenly vanish, and how did party [CPI(M)] secretary M.A. Baby know about it?” he asked, suggesting a political deal to suppress the issue.

Mr. Satheesan further alleged that there was “a clear understanding” between the CPI(M) and the BJP, pointing out the Chief Minister’s “continued association” with BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The ADGP Ajith Kumar meeting with an RSS leader was part of this nexus. The ED summons seems to be the reason behind the CPI(M)’s soft stance and the confusion created during Thrissur Pooram,” he claimed.

Turning to the Sabarimala temple gold theft and Dwarapalaka idol sale controversies, the Opposition Leader said the Devaswom Vigilance’s report submitted to the High Court “validated” every allegation made by the Opposition.

“In 2019, the Devaswom Board violated its own manual and sent fake gold plates to Chennai. The genuine Dwarapalaka idol was sold to a billionaire with the knowledge and support of the Devaswom Board and political leaders,” he said.

He demanded a full-fledged investigation, including against the then Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, adding that since the Devaswom Board was led by former CPI(M) MLA Padmakumar, “the party itself is culpable.”

He alleged that the current Devaswom Board president ignored the Thiruvabharanam Commissioner’s directive not to reappoint Unnikrishnan Potty, who was earlier accused in the theft case. “Why was the same person brought back against clear instructions? It’s like handing over the keys to the thief again,” he charged, adding that Minister V.N. Vasavan should resign and the Devaswom Board be dissolved.

“Dwarapalaka idol was sold for a massive sum, and that a fake mould was made. If the High Court didn’t intervene, they would have sold even the idol of Ayyappa,” he alleged.

‘Conspiracy’ in police action on Shafi Parambil

On the police assault on Shafi Parambil, MP, Mr. Satheesan alleged a “deep conspiracy” behind the attack. “The Kozhikode Rural SP himself admitted that no lathi charge order or whistle signal was given. Then why was an MP beaten on the head and nose? Clearly, it was a planned attack to divert attention from the Sabarimala scandal,” he said.

He also ridiculed the SP’s claim that AI tools would be used to identify the culprits. “Let them investigate. Hope now they will not say that we ourselves attacked our MP.”
